Rocket Launch

March 17th, 2010

Saturday was a perfect day for launching rockets. I had built new pink rockets for Emma & Chloe which we launched simultaneously, the flights were almost perfectly synchronized. I also got to launch the “big rocket”, my Quasar One Nuclear Fusion this past Saturday. It thundered off the pad, great flight and recovery.

This website has been re-purposed

January 24th, 2010

Wow, I think that is the first time I have used the term re-purposed. Anyway, with Karen & I having been on facebook for a while now this website had become way, way outdated. So I have decided to make it my RC Plane, RC Car and Model Rocket website.

Park Shark

August 9th, 2008

I decided to build Thomas a nice, slow flying plane. This is a Park Shark, it’s made from bluecor foam and is very light.

I took it out this morning for it’s maiden flight, It was about 6:45am and Thomas decided he didn’t want to go because it was way to early in the morning. :) I was very surprised, it’s a very stable slow flying plane. With a little wind it can almost hang in the air. It pitched up a little which I was able to correct with the elevator, but I will have to add a bit of weight in the nose.

As I was flying I didn’t notice the soccer goal, the plane flew into it and chomped onto the netting with it’s razor sharp teeth. :)

Piper Cub

August 9th, 2008

While Thomas was visiting Meema I decided to build him a balsa and tissue rubberband powered airplane, I build a few when I was a kid and really enjoyed building this one.

We went out back to fly it, I tried a few test flights to make sure it would actually fly (It did, to my surprise), then I wound it up for Thomas. I told him it was delicate and to be careful when he tossed it, unfortunately I didn’t explain what delicate meant. He crushed the fuselage with his thumb as he threw it. I told him I could fix it, but he was still upset that he had crushed his plane.

He was also not happy that I took a picture of the damage, I guess he didn’t want to be reminded of it.

Repairs in progress… After if was fixed he decided he would rather have it hang in his room than try to fly it again.

Tiger Moth

August 9th, 2008

The latest addition to my fleet is a GWS Tiger Moth 400 biplane, it’s my first aileron plane. My other planes are all 3 channel planes, they turn with the rudder and some some degree of dihedral in the wings (up swept wing) which makes for easy turns that return to level flight when you release the rudder. The Tiger Moth is a 4 channel, the wings have no dihedral and it banks on a dime. More challenging and more fun.
